Safety: CSA 2010

In 2010, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration began rolling out a new comprehensive Safety Management system. The new program, CSA 2010, measures carriers in 7 categories, now called BASICS. Any carrier that is deficient in 2 or more BASICS will receive some type of intervention from the FMCSA...The 7 BASICS are:
  • Driver fitness
  • Unsafe driving
  • Fatigued driving
  • Controlled substances/Alcohol
  • Crash Indicator
  • Vehicle maintenance
  • Improper loading/cargo secure
